CBS To Produce Its Own Sherlock

American TV network CBS has commissioned it’s own version of the BBCs hugely successful Sherlock.

Simply named “Elementary” the show will see Sherlock living and working in the big apple.

The script has been written by Robert Doherty (Writer of Medium) and is being produced by Sarah Timberman (A Gifted Man, Unforgettable) and Carl Beverly.

Steven Moffat, co-writer of the BBCs his series Sherlock tweeted this in response to the announcement

“Dear CBS. A modern day Sherlock Holmes? Where, oh where, did you get THAT idea? We'll be watching!.”

Will it be any good?? I really doubt it. Sherlock is almost as British as the Queen and America would not suit him. I predict yet another CSI like franchise to be avoided at all costs.

  1. Well it was a while since I posted this and looking back I have to say I was wrong.
The new show while still not a patch on Stephen Moffats BBC drama "Sherlock" is rather watchable. I could still do without Lucy Liu playing Watson (I'm just not a fan) but Jonny Lee Miller actually makes for a good Sherlock. I think this speaks volumes about the quality of Conan Doyles writing. Demonstrating without doubt that his stories transcend time, space and even gender.
