Just finished working on my dad’s old bike. It is safe to say I do NOT like mechanics. Oiled the chain and gears, broke the front derailleur, fixed the front derailleur, adjusted the front breaks, fixed the back breaks, adjusted the back breaks and adjusted the back breaks again. All this and it’s now just about ride-able so long as you don’t stop pedalling. If you do the chain backs up badly. I think the freewheel mechanism may be screwed.
