Sherlock - The Reichenbach Fall

I watched the last episode of the second season of Sherlock the other night and have to say it has shot to being my favourite show on TV. Cumberbatchs portrayal of the legendary detective is spot on and every episode leaves me craving the next. Season 2 ends with a bit of a puzzle to hook viewers into watching the 3rd season.

If you’ve seen the show and want to hear how I think the final problem is solved read on.

SPOILER ALERT

Do you remember the scene in the lab where SH is bouncing a rubber ball (Like in The Great Escape)? Well did you know if you place a ball like that in your armpit and squeeze it you can slow down and ultimately stop the radial pulse in your wrist.

SH had Molly position what I now believe to be a hospital laundry truck on the street below him. Then he jumped into the back of the truck. While JW was distracted by the cyclist SH climbed out of the truck and positioned himself in the puddle of blood that Molly also arranged for him on the pavement.

When JW did arrive at his side he was not able to find a pulse because of the rubber ball in SH's armpit and JW was stopped from getting any closer or the subterfuge may have been ruined.

So many stories are abound that it was not SH that jumped or that is was a masked JM dead on the ground. But SH could not take that risk. He knew that JW had to see him jump and he knew JW had to find the real SH on the ground. If JW had spotted the body on the ground was not the real SH then they would be shot by the assassins.

It's going to kill me to have to wait a year to find out the truth. But If that's not what happened I'll figuratively eat my hat.

Please comment if you agree or disagree or if you have a better idea I'd love to hear it.
